Concealed Canyons Delineation and Depositional Elements Analysis Applying a Multidisciplinary Geological and Geophysical Approach: A Case Study of the Pliocene Turbidites, West El-Burullus Area, Offshore Nile Delta, Egypt

Abstract A detailed geological-depositional model and a clear understanding of the depositional elements reservoirs decrease drilling risks in development oil gas fields. Building an effective geological is challenge West El-Burullus (WEB) area because its complicated reservoir, which consists turbidite incised canyons system Pliocene shales intercalated with sands. These have occurred due to turbidity currents associated basin slope forming Kafr El-Sheikh Formation. Deducting basins architecture carried out utilizing integration seismic geomorphology, facies analysis, sequence stratigraphy, petrophysical analysis. The available datasets comprise 3D cube logs WEB-1 well. Analyses these data revealed various lithological relations their paleo-depositional environments. This study demonstrated that El-Sheik Formation comprises third-order units in-filling canyon named WEB five sedimentary components: basal lobe through old canyon, amalgamated channels fill, followed by splays, lobes, levees either proximal or distal facies, then last plugged channels. Time–frequency spectral decomposition time slices at base top assisted description litho-morphological distribution concealed incisions recognized reservoir trending fairway. high quality was found overbank such as splays reflected good excellent characteristics.
